Provenance & lore

Clementine’s story.

Clementine was dressed as a bride and never a guest. Family lore holds she was made in the likeness of a young woman whose wedding never came; the doll was kept at the head of the table where the bride should have sat.

She is gentle but heavy with feeling. Caretakers report a cool draft near her veil and, on occasion, the faint scent of orange blossom — the flower of a wedding that did not happen.

  • Aged lace veil
  • Wax-over composition
  • Scent of orange blossom
